Review ingredients include:

What does a concert review look like while it’s still in its original unpolished form? Well for me, it looks something like this:

stream of thought commentary of Belle & Sebastian’s performance in the Escalade (7/8/09)

“Front row stood up from the beginning, a few songs in, the entire section A stood up. Murdoch jokes he wanted everyone to stand near the end, but now that idea’s bunk, do what you feel.
Assisted by 4 local violinist
Debuted 2 new songs?
Murdoch sobbed into a flag after into my office
He does a lot of solos
Steve (guitar) debuted the new song
Almost got busted right before
Murdoch made a joke about his glasses glowing & danced during sukie
Double Bass guitarist got the least roles, leaving stage entirely toasted the end. She return for boy with Arab to flute
Gal said get me outta here, he feigned upset then ironically played the song before, feeling sinister
Murdoch got the audience to throw steve a random song, Bowie driving Saturday, and he pulled it off
Jenny (audience) was pulled into the stage during silly little frog
She pushed him away mid song
Fox in the snow has almost the same opening as one of God help
Murdoch on piano for fox
Trumpeteer occasionally plays bass guitar
Another sunny day got singalong
Mild giggles at referee gets his fuck off and she tried pornography (beautiful)
Audience clap along and dancing. Front rowers got on stage even (well 4).
Murdoch slipped up towards the end of Arab
Jesse came back after to hug Murdoch. He asked her to hug poor Ben too.
Caught in love elicited actual shrieks. From men.
Lead violinist really doesn’t sing in sync with Murdoch.
Murdoch climbed into the audience to slap hands during caught in love then disappeared
Hesitantly trumpeter plays funeral dirge
Turns out he went to get a flag for indie day
Joked about meeting a mum and having to do something for Singapore b-day
Girls back to flute on Judy dreams of horses
Steve plays piano too
Steve got audience to clap to seizure inducing lights for the last song.
Standing ovation for oncore. Screaming too. Space dream number two? Nope, it’s I’m a cuckoo
Ironicly the last oncore was get me away I’m dying.
The super sombre sound crew three rows in front of me has a guy mouthing a long
Oh wait one more song scooby something ?
Guitarist came back with those Tiny dual drums

Fuck, didn’t record that last song.”

Take all this, cross reference it with the bootleg recordings & lifetweets, fact check it, buff with background information, lastly polish. And there you go, a concert review proper.
